Geoscience and Engineering Interns

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summer employment with ARI spans two to three months, with the final duration negotiated with the selected candidate. These positions are available at our primary offices located in Arlington, VA, Knoxville, TN, and Columbus, OH. The person(s) filling this position will have the opportunity to function as part of a technical team comprised of engineers, geologists, environmental scientists, analysts, and support staff. Depending on the core capabilities of the candidate, the selected candidate will:

  • Collect, interpret, compile, and analyze data,
  • Support the drafting of technical documents,
  • Support ongoing government, commercial, and internal projects at ARI,
  • Assist with field projects as needed, and
  • Complete assigned project work within schedule and budget constraints.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Working toward a geology or engineering-related four year or graduate degree.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to take on technical challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem solving ability and commitment to quality results under deadlines.
  • Solid grasp of their course of study and ability to learn.

COMPENSATION

Advanced Resources International, Inc. offers compensation of $4,000 to $5,000 per month, depending on the candidate’s background, and a relocation allowance.



Geoscience and Engineering Staff Member

JOB DESCRIPTION

Advanced Resources International, Inc. seeks engineering and geoscience candidates to fill staff positions at our primary offices located in Arlington, VA, Knoxville, TN, and Columbus, OH. The person(s) filling this full-time position will have the opportunity to work within an integrated technical team comprised of engineers, geologists, environmental scientists, economic and policy analysts, and support staff. The selected candidate will:

  • Leverage their education and training to support ongoing work spanning a wide array of projects, including the support of ongoing field work,
  • Compile and interpret engineering or geologic data using private and publicly available datasets,
  • Screen datasets and publications for information related to projects including, but not limited to, saline CO2 storage, hydrocarbon reservoirs, and enhanced oil recovery opportunities,
  • Import data into relevant geologic and/or engineering modeling software,
  • Interpret the geology and determine reservoir properties for clastic and carbonate rocks using geologic software,
  • Contribute to white papers, publications, and presentations,
  • Draft permit materials for carbon capture and storage projects (e.g., EPA Class VI),
  • Meet with clients remotely and in-person,
  • Complete assigned project work within schedule and budget constraints.

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, engineering, or a related science (Master’s degree preferred),
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • One to five years of related work experience (preferred),
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team,
  • Problem solving ability and commitment to providing quality results within schedule deadlines,
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to take on technical challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
